15012015 1440 I recalled…
I can’t remember the exact date but it was somewhere early December 2012. I have heard about this hill being a good training ground for those beginners who wanted to take up hiking or just to have a good work-out without being stress out or exhausted. So I get my old hiking buddy Remy who happened to stay in Semenyih to bring me there.
It was quite an easy hike actually though at first I was a bit worry whether I can make it. Been quite a while I didn’t hike, and hiking actually very different from the regular run and work-out as it involved different groups of muscles I guess. I was happy in a sense that I could keep up with the group – Remy, Ann, Yin and Stanley. In fact for most of the hike I was in front, not that I wanna show off but just to keep my momentum, or may be the rest were going slow enjoying the scenery. The morning sun was getting hotter and before halfway I was already soaking in sweat (I sweat easily). The trek all the way was obvious and clear. It was almost 1 1/2 year ago so I can’t remember how long it took us to reach the top.
Correction, I didn’t make it to the top. I stopped at a place (an open area) with a very nice view and the summit can be seen from here. I guess it is about another 30 minutes or so to reach the summit. It was not that I was running out of steam but my pair of old sport shoes gave way, what a disappointment! I took the opportunity to snap around while waiting for the rest who continued up to return. I was under the hot sun here but I didn’t mind as this is what I expected and wanted. It’s been a long time I wasn’t in this type of environment. Quite worth it I thought, able to have a good tanned, burn lots of calories, sweat out all the toxic from my body and at least my weekend were not be wasted away doing nothing…
After about 45 minutes or so, the others were back and we hanged around for another 20 minutes or so before descending. This was where I took a few more shots, as I didn’t want to upset my momentum while climbing up earlier. I hope this will not be the last hike nor will be another long break till another hike.
Hopefully it will be say one hike a week or at least once every 2 weeks from now on. Probably another hill somewhere, some short easy ‘1 day stuff’ before I tackle more difficult ones like those we used to do as a 1 day hike/trip during my younger days – Gunung Nuang, G Dato Rembau, G Ansi, G Bunga Buah etc…
…till I am fit and confident to attempt those other ‘big brothers’ that need a few days with training and careful planning like Gunung Korbu, Yong Yap, Yong Blar, Gunung Tahan!, Trusmadi, Batu Putih, Mulu, wow! the list goes on…
…tham.
